Staying in the front line of water environment governance
From the 2008 Olympic Games, to the research and treatment of the water environment in Beijing's sub-center, the design, construction and operation of the comprehensive treatment project of the Xinfeng River Basin in Daxing District, to Fuzhou, Jiangmen, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Chengdu, Urumqi and other water resources projects across China... Since 2003, MAO Jianhua has been working hard on the front line of water environment governance, deeply combining research and application of water environment governance technology, and chaired or participated in more than 10 major national special projects, key research and development plans, municipal research projects and other scientific research projects.
MAO Jianhua led the BEWG Technical Team to actively respond to the national strategy and fully participate in the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the protection of the Yangtze River and the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. His "governance footprint" covers 15 cities across China, and he is responsible for more than 30 comprehensive water environment management projects in river basins, having treated river basins more than 7,000 km², river course length 1,500 km, benefiting more than 20 million residents. Protect Beijing Water Environment
On the back of Beijing Urban Sub-Center High Quality Water Ecologic Construction Comprehensive Demonstration project, MAO Jianhua surveyeed nearly more than 300 river courses covering 600 sq.km in Tongzhou and Daxing Districts. From 2016 to present, Mr. MAO provides water pollution treatment superstructure designs and solutions for Beijing urban sub-center, Daxing District Xinfeng River basin comprehensive treatment project in the full process, and has chaired 5 demonstrative projects construction and experience conclusion, deeply participated in the front line project construction and operation, actively undertaken and solved technical problems, enabling the preliminary display of sub-center water-city integrated layout.
Under his technical instructions, Xinfeng river basin eliminated water pollution problems within 1 year, and its section reached standard within 3 years, which greatly improved the living environment for 1 million residents alongside, or even the south Beijing ecology. The past “mosquito river” changes into “oxygen park”, so this experience is reported more than 10 times by Learning Power, Beijing TV Station, and Beijing Daily, and has been listed as a typical case of PPP projects in the field of infrastructure and public services in Beijing.

"Innovation is the first driving force leading development"; Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, president Xi Jinping has repeatedly emphasized the importance of innovation on different occasions. Under the demand for ecological civilization, how to improve the supply-side capacity through technological innovation and provide a steady stream of technological power for the corporate development, MAO Jianhua and his team have been working hard.
With years of practical experience, Mr. MAO Jianhua, on the basis of subject research and engineering practice, summed up and put forward the "gray-green" integrated urban water environment management and full life cycle operation system, which continued to improve the water governance measures iteration and performance. At present, he has provided technical support for water environment management in more than 20 cities.
In order to achieve more refined water environment management, more scientific water resources allocation, and more systematic water ecological restoration, and make every effort to promote the long-term cleanliness of the water ecological environment and the continuous improvement of water environment quality, Mr. MAO Jianhua and his team independently developed the "Water Environment Wisdom Operation Management and Control Platform", which integrates multiple technologies such as GIS, BIM, AR, Internet of Things, and model simulation, and innovatively integrates the integrated joint dispatching algorithm of factories, networks and rivers, and realizes seven major subsystems, including real-time monitoring and early warning of water quality and quantity, Grid-based fine operation and maintenance, safety emergency response and dynamic evaluation of engineering performance, to provide systematic, refined and scientific management tools for river basin water environment management, comprehensively improve water environment operation and maintenance capabilities and management levels, and finally form " Government + enterprises + public" trinity joint co-governance mechanism. The results have been applied in projects such as the Liangshui River in Beijing, the comprehensive treatment of the water environment in the Tanghe River Basin in Yuhang District, Zhejiang, and the "Livable Waterfront" in Wuhou District, Chengdu, Sichuan.

Mr. MAO Jianhua not only pays attention to the improvement of personal technical ability, but also attaches great importance to the cultivation of environmental governance talents. He started to set up a water environment technical team in 2015, and shared the top-level design technical system, engineering practice technical system, and management improvement technical system that he had accumulated over the past two decades with team members without reservation, and formed iterative updates. Today, the team have grown from four to nearly 120 members, and become an industry-leading enterprise technology team that integrates technology R&D, technology consulting, and technology industrialization.
With "leading goose effect" and taking himself as an example, Mr. MAO Jianhua has explored different forms of talent training models in the principles of "simultaneous development of innovation, technology and management capabilities" and "combination of subject research and project practice".
