Beijing Enterprises Water Group Limited Won the Second Price of Innovation Achie 2017-07-28

n December 2, 2016, the list of winners of 2016 31st Innovation Achievements in Modernization of Enterprise Management in Beijing was released. Innovative Management Practice Report of Small-sized Seawater Desalination System declared by Beijing Enterprises Water Group Limited (BEWG) won the second place.
This award is presided by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Beijing Municipal Government, sponsored by Beijing Innovation Achievements Review Committee in Modernization of Enterprise Management and undertaken by Beijing Enterprise Confederation. The project won prizes would be advertised and promoted by media, such as Beijing Daily.

The project won the prize was a cooperative achievement by the Seawater Desalination Business Department and the Information Department of BEWG. The project team established a Remote Monitoring System for BEWG Seawater Desalination Device by adopting GPRS wireless communication and cloud storage, so as to realize management functions, including monitoring, acquisition, control, storage, display, historical record storage, fault diagnosis, etc. to data of the seawater desalination device. At present, BEWG had finished construction of the seawater desalination information platform in the north island of Sansha, Zhaoshu Island and Yongxing Island, which was valued and praised by leaders of all levels of Sanshan City. BEWG also plans to bring the seawater desalination equipment in other islands of Sansha City into the information platform and establish a island water environment intelligent control comprehensive demonstration center in Sansha and provide diesel power generator, seawater desalination device, sewage treatment device and drip irrigation equipment, and construct a demonstration center and a data transmission system, to realize remote control and real-time monitoring to the infrastructure in the islands under the unattended operation state.

This prize winning is BEWG’s active achievement of recent constant exploration of enterprise management innovation and industry-university-research cooperation and embodies highly appreciation to BEWG’s enterprise management innovation by Beijing  State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, Beijing Enterprise Confederation and Beijing Entrepreneurs Association. As a leading professional water environment comprehensive service provider, BEWG will continuously promote its enterprise management modernization level, create a complete green environmental protection industry chain and maintain synergetic and rapid development of various businesses by technological innovation, management innovation and industry-university-research innovation.

Over the years, BEWG has been devoted to the seawater desalination research and promotion and obtained two patents for invention for now, that is, “a kind of biological pretreatment process using seawater reverse osmosis method” and “a kind of new thermo-membrane coupling seawater desalinating system and process”, and besides, another 2 patents are declared. At the same time, BEWG has realized major breakthroughs in the seawater desalination technology and applied them to 500 ton/day seawater desalination system in Yongxing Island, Sansha City. This system achieved the green machining process during the seawater desalination and adopted two-stage reverse osmosis in the process, which was friendly to the environment and realized zero release basically. And this system realized the green seawater desalination technique of the internationally advanced level at present and will lead the development direction of the future seawater desalination technique.

There are four highlights in the core design of the process: high water quality, low power consumption, no chemical consumption and stable automatic system. Firstly, the purified water conductivity of the two-stage reverse osmosis is tested to be less than 30μs/cm, and the water quality produced by the system can meet 106 indicators in the Standards for Drinking Water Quality (GB 5749-2006). Secondly, its unique reverse osmosis membrane pack design with low power consumption lowers the power consumption for every tone of water to 4.5Kw/h, which is comparable to that in the seawater desalination plant with capacity of over 20,000 tons adopting traditional process, reaching the internationally leading level. Thirdly, the bioflocculation subsystem in this system enable the core process operate without chemicals, together with DOC online cleaning subsystem, avoiding usage of over ten kinds of chemicals including oxidant, reductant, flocculant and antisludging agent. This method not only avoids a risk of chemicals shipping, lowers the operation cost, erases pollution of draining water to the ocean and puts off the public’s fear to safety of water from the seawater desalination. Last but no the least, the equipment is connected by the Ethernet, which makes the system program more stable. For effective technical monitoring and equipment management to equipment on the islands, a remote monitoring subsystem is designed for the automatic system. Technicians far in the mainland can monitor and operate the production process via the mobile APP in a real-time way and first time know about the operation situations of the equipment and make correct judgment to failure.

Meantime, under guidance of the development idea of Beijing Enterprises Group Company Limited, BEWG designed a photovoltaic-diesel engine hybrid microgrid technical scheme and established a 10KWp photovoltaic-diesel engine hybrid generation system. The photovoltaic power generation part was composed of 42 batteries and can be operated together with the diesel generator. The daily generated energy is 35Kw/h, equivalently producing 10 tons of desalted water every day. The system was verified to be stable in operation, reliable in automatic switching and the first successful case regarding the seawater desalination by the photovoltaic microgrid in China.

In the future, BEWG will research and develop new chemicals-free modular “green” seawater desalination systems with capacities of a hundred tons to ten thousand tons per day by means of technology import, digestion and absorption and independent development aiming at technological development and application features of the seawater desalination, to realize the island ecosystem solutions by the seawater desalination technology and automatic drip technology, gradually establish the seawater resources comprehensive utilization schemes in islands and coastal regions and promote industrialization of complete equipment of the seawater desalination system with the technical purpose of full atomization, low energy consumption and low cost.
