May 14, 2016 is the "Capital State-Owned Enterprises Open Day", and 50 capital citizens visited BEWG’s Daoxianghu Lake Water Recycling Plant and visited the first garden-style underground sewage treatment plant in Beijing.

Under the guidance of the instructor, the capital citizens visited the pretreatment workshop, biochemical processing workshop, fire lane, sedimentation tank, membrane shop and Chuanghui Garden. The instructor gave a detailed introduction to the design concept, advanced technology,process characteristics as well as the Leho elements of ground garden of Daoxianghu Lake Water Recycling Plant.

Visitors are amazed at the advanced design of Daoxianghu Reclaimed Water Plant "to build parks on ground and treat sewage under ground ". Many citizens are very interested in natural lighting technology, especially on the principle of light pipe for a detailed consultation, and some consulted the water treatment technology.
After the visit, many people said to the staff that,they never visited the sewage treatment plant before, and could smell anything unusual when passing through the plant ,and no one was willing to live near the sewage treatment plant, let alone into the plant. Now, there are parks, and they can go sightseeing, but also can enjoy leisure and entertainment, and they were not worried about the sewage treatment plants anymore, but also like the comfortable environment here, and hope to have the opportunity to visit it later.

Daoxianghu Lake Water Recycling Plant is located in the area after Haidian Mountain, with the total planned processing capacity of 260,000 tons / day, including 80,000 tons/day in Phase 1. Sewage plant is of the whole buried design, and the whole process of operation is free of noise, smell, saving land area of 12 hectares. All the plants and facilities are buried under the ground by 16-18 m, and the ground part is of the modern water technology exhibition park. The project is invested by the Beijing Enterprises Water Group Limited ("BEWG") , and now is in the inflow commissioning stage.

Daoxianghu Lake Water Recycling Plant has been carefully planned and designed with the following highlights:

Highlight 1: Saving land resources. In recent years, with the continuous improvement of the urbanization level and living environment needs in China, the underground sewage treatment plant with small space occupied, saving land resources and small environmental pollution and in coordination with the surrounding environment, becomes the development direction of large-scale urban sewage treatment engineering. Daoxianghu Lake Water Recycling Plant breaks through the traditional concept of land use of sewage treatment plant, and makes full use of vertical space and is divided into ground park - overburden - maintenance layer - sewage treatment pool from top to bottom, saving more than 50% of land.

Highlight 2: Protecting the surrounding environment.The main processing equipment plants for underground sewage treatment plant are built under ground by 16m to 18m, and the underground whole closed management is the comprehensive treatment for the odor and sludge generated in the sewage and sewage treatment process, which "both insulates sound and separates smell" , and not only will not cause pollution to the groundwater, but not have a negative impact on life on the surrounding environment and urban residents .After the leisure park is put into use,it will not only bring a beautiful environment, but also provide a demonstration base of environmental protection and sewage treatment technology for the public.

Highlights 4: Adoption of advanced technology. In the sewage treatment process, we use the world's leading underground MBR biological treatment + ozone disinfection process to ensure that the water quality of recycled water treatment is in line with Beijing local standards and strict water quality requirements. In the operating environment, the water plant uses solar energy refraction natural lighting system, multi-stage and multi-section biological deodorant system and other new technologies, which effectively improves the operating environment, energy saving, low-carbon operations of the sewage treatment system .

Highlight 4: Improving water quality in river. According to the plan, Daoxianghu Lake Water Recycling Plant mainly undertakes the sewage treatment in the surrounding area of about 34.5 square kilometers, and the natural water resources are less in Beijing, the area after Haidian Mountain is located in the upper reaches of Beijing water source, and the recycled water generated in this project is mainly used for landscape environmental water and urban greening water, and the excellent water quality from the recycled water plant is as a river supplementary water, which has played an important role to improve the water environment in the region and protect the water quality in Beijing .
